June Carter Cash’s Legendary Life in Music – And With The Man in Black

Back in 1939, ten-year-old Valerie June Carter made her professional music debut with country music’s The Carter Family, When they eventually became the Carter Sisters, June took on a bigger role, and by the 1960s they were once again known as the Carter Family..

In 1964 she recorded a song with another country singer, a guy named Johnny Cash. He in June, and the Carter Family, collaborated on many more projects over the next few years. And in 1968 Johnny and June collaborated on something else. They got married. It was his second marriage, her third.

As has become well known since then, theirs was a sometimes rocky relationship.

In 1987 June Carter Cash wrote a memoir called From the Heart. A year later when the book was republished in paperback she went on an author tour and that’s when I met her.

June Carter Cash Was posthumously inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame this year. She died in 2003 at age 73.
